Celebrating Literacy & Arts with the Leadership Council

Last Wednesday, friends of Read Alliance filled the James Graham & Sons gallery for fun and fellowship in support of our mission. The Art of Reading was the Leadership Council’s 3rd Annual Fall event, this year in celebration of Read Alliance’s expanded Literacy & Arts program. The Leadership Council, which is made up of New York City professionals from diverse industries, works to support Read Alliance through hosting annual fundraising and volunteer events, while also serving as role models for students and teen tutors throughout the year.

The evening featured a powerful presentation of artwork created by Read Alliance students, an open bar, light hors d’oeuvres, raffle, and a short presentation on the relationship between art and literacy. With 120 guests in attendance and over $14,000 raised, The Art of Reading was a true success.

Special thanks are due to the in-kind donations that helped make the event possible. Thank you to James Graham & Sons, for donating the gorgeous gallery space, and Diageo, for providing liquor and wine. A big congrats is due to the Leadership Council’s own Ed Miller, for winning the grand prize raffle, a week-long stay in Cabo San Lucas! Among the other coveted prizes were a Bobbi Brown private makeup lesson and giveaway, a two-hour personalized photo shoot from Shutter Happy NYC, and two tickets to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The funds raised will go to support Read Alliance’s School Year and Summer Reading Program. This year, Read Alliance will provide jobs to more than 1100 teens and provide more than 1100 at-risk students with foundational reading skills and opportunities to develop self-expression and self-confidence.

That is indeed a very bad blog. Kind of shows that evetahwr is the career path for becoming an MP, it probably doesn't involve the demonstration of brilliance at communication. One day we will isolate what the critical factor is, and neutralize it.It occurred to me that having comments turned on is similar to the scientific peer-review process. Unless a journal is peer-reviewed, it's publications don't carry any weight in the field, and are generally only read outside scientific circles. For example, climate change denialists publish their theories in non-peer-reviewed newspapers, and do a lot of damage, because the public unfortunately doesn't know the difference.Would it be possible to associate a further set of metrics for blogs that are just as accessible as the page rank? For example, number of comments, weighted by blogger identity, number of comments deleted/moderated, and so on.I hate getting my comments deleted as much as the next person. If there was a firefox plug-in that cc-ed all my blogger comments to another server, and from which comments could be retrieved and reinserted seamlessly for anyone who had the plug-in, I'd use it. It would retrofix the feature back in, and easily highlight the policy for anyone to see, without the need for all that work you keep getting up to.
I actually got into this altcire. I found it to be intriguing and loaded with distinctive points of interest. I like to read material that makes me believe. Thank you for writing this fantastic content material.
Its like you read my mind! You seem to grasp a lot approximately this, like you wrote the ebook in it or smeothing. I feel that you simply can do with some % to pressure the message home a bit, but other than that, that is excellent blog. An excellent read. I'll definitely be back.
