Leadership Council
Our Leadership Council (LC) represents professionals from diverse industries, including education, finance, marketing, psychology, accounting and consulting. The LC hosts annual fundraising and volunteer events, while also serving as role models for students and teen tutors throughout the year.
Goals & Initiatives
- Build a greater awareness of Read Alliance’s mission and programs among NYC’s professionals
- Serve as role models to the teens and students we serve; expand volunteer programs to include more mentor opportunities
- Build corporate and community contacts to help leverage funding, sponsorship and in-kind donations to support Read Alliance programming and events
- Develop and/or introduce potential Board and Leadership Council member
2010-2011 Highlights

Fundraised $50,000 to help further Read Alliance's mission

Hosted 2 book drives and collected more than 150 books for summer and school year programs

Provided career guidance to teen tutors at the Build Your Future Career Fair

Held annual Teen Essay Contest, selecting the top 3 teen essays to be recognized at the Read Alliance Annual Celebration
