The Difference a Job Makes

What makes Read Alliance so special is our vision to prepare two at-risk populations for continued academic and personal accomplishment. Not only do we shrink the achievement gap by providing at-risk students with basic reading skills, but we continue to provide hundreds of teens with meaningful, paid jobs each year. Our teen tutors learn more than the ins and outs of having a job: they get the added benefits of making an impact on a child’s life.

The Curran Foundation strongly stands by the work we do, saying, “Read Alliance follows the same procedures and technique for all its locations thereby providing excellent continuity for every school in the program".

Vicole

While most of his peers were reading picture books, Vicole began the school year unable to read at all. His teachers recommended him for Read Alliance, where he achieved a year and six months improvement in his reading skills, putting him at grade level with his peers.

New Name, Same Strong Results:
To more accurately reflect our many partners, we have branded ourselves as Read Alliance. All contracts currently in force will continue under the name Reading Excellence and Discovery (READ) Foundation.
